Friends, Romans, Countrymen…and Theatre Lovers:
I am writing to you on behalf of a very special cat. The cat to whom I am referring is, in fact, "Puss in Boots.” Inspired by the great theatrical tradition of Commedia dell’arte, the playwright - Adi Leviatan - has adapted for theatre this famous tale.
The character of Puss is inspired by the characters of Truffaldino, Bagattino, Zanni and other 'servants' in the Commedia del’arte. The miller’s son and the princess are inspired by the characters of Flavio and Isabella (the Innamorati/lovers). The king is inspired by the hearty Brighella. Finally, the wizard is inspired by the character of the braggart, Capitano.
"Puss in Boots" was produced by the Givatayim Theatre in the winter of 2007. It received very favorable reviews, and was later nominated by The Children's Theatre Association of Israel for Best Children's Play 2008. The play was later chosen by the Israeli branch of Assitej (International Theatre Organization) for funding to be translated into English.
"Puss in Boots" is a delightful story, guaranteed to capture the imagination of any child. Without question, however, it is also a play that older children and their parents are bound to enjoy. Zoolik Productions is now offering theatres worldwide the opportunity to produce this play in their own country, with an adaption best suited to their specific audience.
Please find enclosed a 'taster' of the script. If you like what you read (and I hope that you will) please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I will be more than happy to answer any questions or queries that you have relating to "Puss."
I look forward to hearing from you.
